Port-au-Prince, Haiti — Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé received U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau at the National Palace during a high-level meeting that underscored the strategic partnership between Haiti and the United States and reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to supporting Haiti’s efforts toward security, stability, and national recovery.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by several senior members of his government, including Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship Raina Forbin, Minister of Justice and Public Security Me Patrick Pélissier, Minister of Defense Mario Andrésol, and Minister of Planning and External Cooperation Dr. Sandra Paulemon.
Secretary Landau led a distinguished U.S. delegation that included Viviana Bovo, Special Advisor to Senator Marco Rubio, one of the most influential voices on U.S. foreign policy in the Western Hemisphere; U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Henry Wooster; as well as four senior political advisers. The composition of the delegation reflected the importance Washington attaches to its engagement with Haiti and its commitment to maintaining close dialogue with Haitian authorities.
The discussions focused on key national priorities, including security, governance, economic recovery, institutional strengthening, and preparations for the country’s democratic transition. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued cooperation to address Haiti’s challenges and advance long-term stability and development.
During the meeting, Deputy Secretary Landau commended Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé for his leadership and acknowledged the efforts of the Haitian government to strengthen state institutions, improve security conditions, and create a more stable environment for the Haitian people.
The visit carried particular significance as it took place at the National Palace, the symbolic seat of executive authority in Haiti. It also provided an opportunity for the U.S. delegation to engage directly with senior Haitian officials responsible for foreign affairs, justice, defense, security, and development planning.
